Every generation has women who light the path. This night is about them. Six women, six decades, sharing stories of the grandmothers, mentors and icons who showed us what’s possible. It’s not just nostalgia – it’s wisdom, grit and love passed forward. When we honour the women who paved the way, we see more clearly how to walk our own.
If you’ve ever looked up to an older woman and thought, Because of her, I can, this show is for you. You’ll laugh, nod along and leave reminded that strength multiplies when it’s shared across generations.
💫 Our Performer Line-up:
Team 20s: Julia Bekin is a humanitarian and sustainable architecture student at Monash University and a United Nations COP30 delegate. Working across Australia and Brazil, she develops climate-positive design initiatives, builds international education partnerships, and champions youth leadership in sustainability and community-led architecture. She is currently leading the design and construction of a climate-resilient school in rural Brazil.
Team 30s: Simone Sandler is new to storytelling and has ‘lived, laughed, loved’ and lost a lot in 35 years. She’s a neurospicy doctor who adores her family, friends and animals without limits; is renowned for creating WhatsApp groups and for failing spectacularly at laundry. She believes vulnerability, humour and community are how we connect, survive and thrive.
Team 40s: Fabiola Campbell is a Venezuelan migrant, author, speaker and community leader passionate about empowering migrant women to reclaim their stories and step into leadership. After migrating to Australia as a professional, she transformed her lived experience into purpose. In 2019, she founded Professional Migrant Women (PMW), a thriving community supporting women to build skills, visibility and self-belief through storytelling and self-compassion. A 2024 inductee to the Victorian Multicultural Honour Roll, Fabiola champions inclusive leadership as a powerful asset.
Team 50s: Angela Savage is an award-winning writer of novels and short stories. She recently contributed to and co-edited Spinning Around: The Kylie Playlist. Angela is CEO of Public Libraries Victoria and holds a PhD in creative writing, giving her the Bond villain-like name of Doctor Savage.
Team 60s: Helena Kidd a second-generation Greek Cypriot who never set out to be an author, but when she found her mother Maria’s secret diary, Helena was compelled to share Maria’s suffering and the effects of a patriarchal system. Helena returned to Cyprus for two months, resulting in a trilogy completing her Odyssey.
Team 70s: Guosheng Yang Chen is a dedicated educator with 51 years of leadership experience across education and community sectors. Since joining Victoria’s education system in 1984, she has led national and international projects promoting inclusive education and women’s leadership. After retiring at 67 she became an Honorary University Fellow at RMIT University.
