Women have a knack for reinventing themselves, and this show is all about those brave new starts. You’ll hear stories from women who embraced fresh chapters — sometimes planned, sometimes not — and came out stronger on the other side. It’s for anyone ready to rise to their next big challenge (or just needing a little nudge).
Our performer line-up:
Team 20s: Liz Elliott is a medical science student by day and a stand-up comic by night. On the spectrum and breaking stereotypes, she loves turning her journey through autism, academia and awkward moments into punchlines.
Team 30s: Laura Irvine is an emerging writer of cross-genre novels hitting the sweet spot between commercial and literary fiction. Laura’s writing explores the human experience where nothing is off-limits. Common themes in her writing are sex, trauma, love and friendship — because these are experiences that make us who we are.
Team 40s: Claire Edwardes OAM is a percussionist and Artistic Director of Ensemble Offspring. The only Australian to win the APRA Art Music Luminary Award four times, she performs solo recitals and concerto performances throughout Australia and the world. In 2022 Claire was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her contribution to Australian music and in 2023 she was the recipient of the Australian Women in Music Award for Creative Leadership.
Team 50s Shirley Chowdhary, awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by the University of Sydney in 2024, is a seasoned Chair and Non-Executive Director on a number of boards and advisory boards. A speaker and consultant on board governance and First Nations education, she champions inclusion, innovation and sustainable impact.
Team 60s: Faith Agugu was born in Nigeria and raised in London, where she began her journey volunteering with kids from tough backgrounds. A proud poster girl for midlife reinvention, she now supports women through menopause and beyond via her practice, the Healing Process, and also founded Silver Sirens, an age-positive community redefining how we see women and ageing.
Team 70s: Liem Bui is a retired engineer originally from Vietnam. After growing up during the Vietnam War, peace and freedom motivated her to build a boat and take her family on an unknown journey to a new life. They eventually settled in Sydney, where Liem completed an engineering degree and resumed her career. A single mother, she has been dedicated to giving her daughter a good education and raising her to be strong and independent.
Generation Women is an award-winning cross-generational storytelling night founded in New York in 2017, Sydney in 2018 and Melbourne in 2020. Each month, six women of note read an original piece on a theme. Of those, one is in her 20s, her 30s, her 40s, her 50s, her 60s and her 70s+.
This event is proudly presented by Generation Women Australia, founded by Donna Logue. The event will be hosted by Charlie. Generation Women was created by Georgia Clark.
